Dr. Katrina Slater is a fellowship-trained interventional spine and sports medicine specialist and has expertise in a wide range of procedures and techniques for the spine. Dr. Slater provides long-lasting medical treatment to help patients to return to their prior level of activity.

Dr. Slater began her education and training by completing her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. She went on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. Following her time there, she underwent transitional residency training at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia, and then a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. To further her training, she completed an interventional spine and sports medicine fellowship at Jordan-Young Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Using her extensive skills and training as a fellowship-trained interventional spine and sports medicine specialist, she is proficient in a wide range of minimally invasive and nonsurgical options. This includes electrodiagnostic testing, epidural injections, radiofrequency ablations, image-guided peripheral joint and tendon injections, orthobiologics procedures, and peripheral nerve stimulation. 

Interests

When she isn’t delivering high-quality care to her patients, Dr. Slater spends her time running races, trails, and half marathons, hiking, playing volleyball, cooking, and participating in CrossFit, and she also has a particular liking for French bulldogs.
